Bath Time

The bath time is very important for babies. When should your baby have it’s first bath? When long should the bath be? When is the right time to take your baby bath? Well these are some question almost every mother asks when she has her first recently born child.

The take a baby bath is not easy at all. If he does not like water it actually can be very hard. He can scream, cry and struggle and that will make your job so much difficult. It is not recommended to take the baby’s fist bath before he is three weeks old. It may seem like a long period, but it is important to keep the baby away form water until his bellybutton is actually formed. However, this does not mean that you will leave your baby dirty all this time. You can clean him with a damp towel or a diaper, washing each part of his body separately.

After this period, you can put the baby in the tub with warm water. The baby should not be left alone even for one second, so you should prepare in advance all the things you may need for the bath. The child towel, the baby soap and shampoo his chopsticks for ears, body lotion and even the clothes are going to dress him with should be near you. The baby bath should not last more than a few minutes and you should not wash him every day in the first two months of life. Two to three times a week is enough to start and in time you increase the number of bathing. Even if your baby cries at the first baths, that will happen only because it’ something new for him. When you prepare the bath you have to be careful with the water temperature. Water must be within 37 degrees, because the baby skin is more sensitive than the adults’ one. The water should have only two inches deep. Even the water may seem small, it is enough for a baby bath. The fragile skin and the fine hair of the baby care require the most careful attention. You should also give extra attention to the diaper area of the baby, because he might be irritated because of the constant wear of diapers. The bath time has to be always at the same hour. Specialists recommend to have the baby bath before dinner. This is very important at the beginning because you baby has to be used to water and baths and to have them regularly, at the same hours is the first step in helping him understand the ritual.
