Changes in fingernails is a sensitive topic. There is no way whatsoever, that one will not ahve some fingernail problem, during an entire lifetime. fingernails, even though they may seem strong and they may seem that nothing can hurt them, are made of a material, keratin, a strong protein, that whether one does not take proper care of, will just become ugly and ruined.

Sometimes it is not dependable on us how the fingernails come to look like, sometimes it is out of our hands to do anything to stop them from becoming ugly and even ruining. Some of the most common changes in fingernails met are cracked nails, piled nails, ridged nails, flat nails, thick nails, fungus nail disorder, Beau’s lines, brittle nails, leuchonychia, pitting, koylochynia etc. These are not the only changes that may occur at the level of the fingernail but are some that can be obvious enough that one will notice and may start and treat it.

The causes that lead to these fingernail disorders are various, they vary from the internal causes to the external ones. The fingernail changes causes are injury, infection disease, poisoning. The infection leads to the appearance of fingernail fungus, that if left untreated it may become so bad as the fingernail plate may come off for good. Anyhow, if this is the case, one should not worry as the fingernail plate grows back, at a steady time in some three to six months; the infection may as well cause changes in fingernail color and pain, that will eventually lead to fingernail loss and as well some red streaks can appear at the base of the fingernail.

The injury of the nail plate will lead to a totally deformed fingernail plate, to a washboard look nail, and too much exposure of the fingernail to water and a wet environment, will cause them to become brittle and peeling.

The fingernail diseases causes that can lead to fingernail changes are those diasese that affect the amount of oxygen existent in the blood. They will cause the nail clubbing. Kidney disease and liver disease can as well cause fingernail damage, especially at the level of the nail plate. the thyroid disease will lead to splitting fingernails and as well the possibility of being torn apart for good from the nail bed. Suffering from some severe illness, like heart failure, like melanoma or having made some chemotherapy treatment, will lead to the appearance of fingernail horizontal ridges. Psoriasis will as well cause fingernail pitting and splitting. The poison that affects the fingernails is the arsenic poisoning may cause white lines and horizontal ridges and the silver intake can cause the appearance of blue nails.

A cause that will not be able to do anything about, is the aging process that has consequences on the entire part of your body, including the skin, the hair and the fingernails.

While the external factors can be solved the internal ones cannot. One must adopt a proper diet in order that the fingernails stay healthy. One should as well have the manicure done twice a week. If one does not have the appropriate time to provide to the fingernails suitable care one must think about going to a special manicure salon, that will allow one to just sit around and read something or do any other thing that will provide you more pleasure than staying and doing your manicure. And most of the times one is not  ready and does not know how to do ones manicure appropriately.

It is up to you to have beautiful and good looking fingernails.
