Corpse Bride
Corpse Bride is an animation movie from the gloom lover, but amazing and talented director Tim Burton, released in 2005. The voices used are of Johhny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter for the main characters of the animation. Also, actors like Emily Watson, Albert Finney and Danny Elfman agreed to play parts by having their voices used. The categories this animation movie belongs to are fantasy-music-romance. Burton’s Corpse Bride was even nominated for Oscar in Best Animated Feature Film of the Year section, along with other 5 wins and 15 nominations since its release.
Corpse Bride is a dark, gothic-like animation, like master Burton wants his creations to be each time. Inspite of this, the animation is about an uncommon love story between Victor (voice of Johnny Depp) and Corpse Bride (voice of Helena Bonham Carter). Victor is a shy groom that has to marry Victoria, a girl he doesn’t love, but to whom his parents arranged him to marry with. Obbeying to this decision, one day he tries to practice his vows so that he knows them well on his wedding day. The problem is he picks a bad spot to do this. The dead rise from their graves when he puts the wedding ring on the finger of a corpse, thinking it was just a tree branch. In fact, it is the spot where a bride was burried a long time ago.

Before he knows it, Victor is sent to a world he never know it ever existed, the world of the undead. Corpse Bride now thinks Victor is her Prince Charming and doesn’t want him to leave her never again. Will Victor escape from this fantasy world? Will he get rid of the mad dead people he met and return to Victoria, among the living people? But the things is… what if Victor falls in love with Emily, the Corpse Bride? And what’s with the revived corpse, anyway, was it a curse?
So many questions rise up about this animation movie. Questions to which you can find answers only by watching the movie! It is really not a waste of time, but an enjoyable animation. I know, you might not want to see it because it resembles to a horror animation.

Well, it is not really like that. It’s just… gloomy and different, so dare to see it! Give it a try, you might change your initial opinion! But then again, if you are a fan of Tim Burton‘s movies, you will certainly love this one too, as you loved his other productions. And as the director got us used to along the years, the duo Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter is present, and they did a wonderful job again! Their contribution is important for the success of the animation, because they understood the characters very well and they easyly adapted to the story!
Go buy or rent the DVD, don’t be afraid to watch it! On the contrary, you might find it sweet, inspite of the gothic theme Tim Burton never renounces!
