Cuban Manicure

If you are into nails you might have heard that there is a trend that used to be fashionable and it is coming back: the Cuban manicure. Just as the name suggests it is originated from Cuba, actually from the nail salons of Havana in the pre-Castro years. You could have seen this style in Cuba or in the US, in Miami on the nails of older Cuban women. At this moment it seems like it’s regaining its popularity and more and more young women are trying out this style. Maybe that this time it will be even more popular and wide-spread than the last time.



The main characteristic of this style is that there is a deep red line in the middle while the tips and the lunula (or moon) are painted white. Some say that it is just like a variation of the French manicue. The red that is used for this manicure should be really screaming, because the brighter and the bolder the red is, the better. For the white it is best to use a pearly white, but if you wish to get this style you should also think about the type of color you use; the white and the red should match.



It is said that those women who have this style must also have some courage to show it in public because for sure the colors of the manicure will draw some attention on the nails and so on the person as well. There are several methods to get this manicure done. According to the first method you should paint the whole nail with the white that you want to use and once it has dried you should pain the rep part. The downside of this is that you must have some talent in painting or at least to have very steady hands to paint the perfect red. The bad part is that if you make a mistake there is no way you can correct it because you will smudge the white as well.



The other method is to paint the entire nail red and then paint the tips and the moons. The downside of this method is that you must paint the perfect tips and moons without smudging and you should also think about the fact that probably you will have to apply at least two layers of white because the red is a darker color and for the first layer it is possible that you will get a pink color.

The truth is that there are quite a few people who know about this style but I think that the Cuban manicure will gain more popularity because it is bold and in this period women are trying to find more and more interesting styles to wear. I think that this style is great for a night out, but it can be right for an everyday use as well, if the person in question has the courage to wear it since red nails are a little more problematic.
