Discontinued Lipstick Shades

Maybe it has happened to you before that there was one lipstick that you really liked and you bought it on several occasions but at one moment it simply disappeared and you couldn’t find it anymore. I suppose you figured it out that the reason for its disappearance was that it was discontinued.

After they have received many complaints the manufacturers admitted that they discontinued the lipsticks for one very well defined reason: it is their policy. Actually the policy doesn’t say to stop producing your favorite lipstick. According to this policy the manufacturer produces only those products that are considered to be trendy, fashionable, so briefly, ‘hot’.

At first this might sound really stupid but if you come to think of it and you look at things from the producer’s point of view, you will see that it makes some sense. If they produce only those products that are trendy than they will sell all the products they produce and they won’t remain with them on the stock so the profit will be bigger, and it is an unwritten law that the business’s purpose is to maximize its profit. On the other hand there are some reasons related to PR (public relations) as well. If a company builds up an image according to which they only produce ‘hot’ cosmetics then it will be a lot easier for them to sell both older and new lines.

I know that it is hard to accept such a policy but we must face reality. But let’s not lose hope, because even when you are looking for discontinued lipstick shades there might be some hope for you. If you can’t find the lipstick you are looking for in any of the cosmetics shop that you know they had it then I think the most rational thing to do is to visit the manufacturer’s official webpage and check whether you could order the product online.

It is possible that they still got a few on stock. If you aren’t lucky enough for things to be this easy, you might want to try some other websites where people are selling things, such as eBay, Beauty Swap Siopa or MakeupAlley. If you shop from these sites be sure to check whether the product is still in its original package.

If you still haven’t found what you were looking for you might take a look at some web pages of retail outlets because they might still have it and they could give you information on how to buy the item in question. If you are sure that the discontinued lipstick shade that you are looking for doesn’t exist anymore there is one more thing that you can do: contact a custom color specialist and ask him or her whether the shade can be reproduced. If they can’t provide you with the wanted product there is nothing else left to do but to find another lipstick that resembles the old one. You might just love the new lipstick as much as the old lipstick.
