Fingernails are an important part of our body. They are not just useful and have a protective role, but they are as well important for our look and our individuality. They are made out of a protein called keratin and they represent the best way to fight with different bacteria, and fungi.
Anyhow, there are times, when it just is not up to us to cure our fingernails. Those times refer to when some internal disorder lead to a process that will make the fingernails look bad. What about fingernails peeling? What does it refer to and what is its actual function?
The fingernails peeling process is characterized by the fact that fingernails peels off their layers and they no longer look like a healthy smooth nail. Anyhow, there are a lot of medical and non medical causes to this issue that one should take into account, when wanting to discover the proper cause, so as to give the proper treatment.
The most common cause is the fingernail fungus infection. Most of the times, the fingernail fungus infection is met at toe nails, as they are the ones, that stay in humidity, that have contact with various bacteria etc. anyhow, this may happen to your fingernails as well.

Another skin condition that may lead to fingernail peeling is psoriasis. Psoriasis is characterized by some red patches on the fingernail and as well causes them to peel off. If not provided suitable medical attention, it may lead to the falling off of one’s nail.
Some less serious causes of fingernails peeling are related to over-exposure to water, using too much harsh chemicals, not taking proper care of one’s fingernails, using little nail care products, and cuticle oil, as well as during the winter, one may be suffering of low humidity, nails may lead to be dried off and eventually peel. The aging process comes in turn, as with time, as one will grow in age, the moisture content of the body is getting lower and fingernails become vulnerable and peel off.

What will be the proper treatment if one finds himself in this situation? First and fore most one should determine the cause. Once the cause is determined, one can start by taking care of all the damaging factors of the nail. Therefore, one should apply some vitamin E oil or Jojoba oil on the cuticles, one should cease exposing himself to harsh chemicals and washing dishes all the time without wearing some protective gloves and should avoid over exposure to water. If the cause is an infection or an internal disease, it is better to consult a specialist in this regard, as he will be the only one entitled to give you the proper treatment.
