I think that at the moment the most popular and trendy manicure style is the French manicure. According to unofficial surveys this is the most asked for style in nail salons and spas. I am not surprised at all, since it is a very versatile style that has many variations and no matter which one you choose, you will have an elegant and neat look. There are a lot of women who go to nail salons because they don’t have the time and the patience needed to create their own manicure, and some of them think that it is difficult and complicated to create but the truth is that there is nothing difficult about it.

In case you wish to create your own manicure, there are some things that you are going to need. Besides the usual things used for a manicure (scissor, clips, file, cuticle pusher) you are also going to need some nail polishes. In this article I am going to talk about the traditional French polish manicure and so you will need the base coat, a white polish, a pink nail polish (you could also use a beige or nude one, if you prefer) and naturally a top coat. A lot of women choose to use nail guides also that helps them create the perfect smile line. If you think that your hands are steady enough you could draw the lines by hand. There many different types of French polish manicure kits available in stores. Some of them have only the basic two colors (white and pink) and so you should buy the base and top coat separately. I would suggest for you to buy a more elaborate kit, which has the four polishes. Of course you could buy each item individually as well. Most kits come with a number of nail guides but you could buy these separately as well in sets of at least 20 guides.

Once you are done with the basic manicure of the nails (at this point you shouldn’t have any nail polish on them) make sure that there is no grease left on the nails, and then apply a base coat. This will protect the nails and will make the nail polish adhere better. Once it has dried stick the nail guides on the nails and make sure that the nail polish won’t be able to get under it because it might get smudged. Apply a layer of white polish on the tips and after a couple of minutes remover the guides. When you are sure that the tips have dried apply a layer of base color (pink beige or nude) on the whole nail and then let it dry. After the last layer has dried you should apply a top coat to protect the manicure.

This is all you got to do if you want to get a French polish manicure and you could also apply some stickers, nail art or rhinestones, or create any other pattern depending on your personal preferences.
