Half Moon Manicure

Even in our days one of the most popular manicure styles is the French manicure. It has been around for a very long time and it doesn’t show any signs of losing popularity. You might be wondering why am I writing about French manicure if the topic of the article is half moon manicure? You should know that the half moon manicure is also known as reverse French manicure, and I think this explains everything. It is a variation of the traditional French manicure.

When people hear about French manicure they instantaneously associate it with the white tips and pink base. Well, in this case it is just the opposite. I am sure you know that there is a so called moon at the base of the nail bed and at this moment I think you know how the manicure looks like. It’s just like a French manicure that is the other way around: instead of the tip being white, the base is, in this case the moon.

There are several ways to get the look. I think the easiest way is to use some nail guides that have a circular shape and you should stick them to cover the moon on each nail. You could also leave the space for the moon unpolished if you feel like you could to this by hand. Still I think working with the guides is easier. Polish the whole nail with the color of your choice. I think it is best to use a medium to dark color for the base in case you wish to have a bright moon, or you could do it on the other way around: bright for the base and darker for the moon. Once you are done with the base color, you should wait for it to dry and then remove the guides.

To paint the moons you should take a fine brush and dip it into the other color. I know it takes a lot of practice to create the perfect moons, but I think it is worth it. The last step is to apply a layer o top coat. Naturally you should forget about the base coat either.

Another way to get the half moon manicure done is to polish the whole nail with the base color and then by dipping a fine brush into nail polish remover, remove the polish from the moons. You could leave them bare or you could apply another color on the like in the case of the previous method.

The last method that I am going to tell you about is to polish the whole nail with the color of the moon and once it has dried you polish the nail with the other color, avoiding the moon to get the two colored style.

I think the best part about this style is that you can use your creativity regarding the combination of colors and you could use the craziest colors you can think of to get the style done.
