How Did Early Man Deal With Growing Toe And Fingernails
How did early man deal with growing toe and fingernails? It is common knowledge that both toe and fingernails existed since the man appeared, though it was not such a developed human being, it had the same functions as we do, nowadays.
Some believe that the nails of primates and those of mammals are developed from the claws of the reptiles. Claws were a must of the reptiles, about fifty-four millions years ago. That is the time when they developed their toes and fingernails, that replaced the claws they used to have. The difference between claws and fingernails is that claws are curved downwards. The nails are less curved, just at some people they curve when being very long, and they are not pointed. Anyhow, just like in the early age, they have a multitude of functions, like that of protection.
But, did there exist any fingernails clips back then or how did early man deal with the growing toe and fingernails? At the very beginning of humanity, it is believed that people might have bitten their nails down, or just grew them so long as they finally broke off by themselves. Anyway, if there was no other solution, they surely managed somehow.

Another very good theory that stands is that just like at the monkeys (apes) that have the almost the same fingernails as we do, as they use their hands and their toes, the nails are grinded away and do not need to be cut with anything special anymore, as they do not have time to overgrow.
But, if it is necessarily a cutting thing needed in this theory, a good cutting thing would have been the stone. Maybe they sharpened a stone, so good as to become usable and used it to cut off their fingernails. They could have also used a knife they had available, to cut their fingernails.
Whether today having long or small cleaned fingernails and toe is a thing of fashion, is a thing we wear with proud, back then they probably took them as a useful thing they had to use for living, for protection against the animals etc, or just a useless and not understood thing by them.

As human has evolved, the nails have evolved also. Therefore, the nails could have been back then so thick, just like those of the apes, and they were handy and useful if this is the case. Anyhow, just like the man, when in the early days its height varied a lot than that in recent days, back then as the man was not so evolved he was rather small in height and did not grow much, this could be the ting with the nails also. Probably, they did not grow so rapidly as they do nowadays, and that is why they did not need any of these utensils we use today, for cutting, clipping, buffing, brushing the nails.
Though a totally different society back then, just like we would and get used to everything new that appears, they had to handle their life and to found solutions for every unknown thing they discovered.
