Infected Fingernail

Fingernails are a part of who we are. They give us a plus of trust in ourselves. As the healthy fingernails give us style and fashion, unhealthy fingernails give us a bad disposition and a bad feeling about ourselves.




Though there are problems that are not up to us and we have nothing in our power to do to stop them, like the hereditary problems, there are also the cases when having a clean look of your nails and a constant care of them will make them look good and feel healthy. Though they apparently are a dead area, there are a lot of factors that have bad effect on them. These factors are the bad weather, the moisture environment you live in, the excessive nail polish wear, the poor nutritional habits etc.  The fingernail infections may be caused by bacteria, skin viruses. The infected fingernails appear as there is no immune system to control them being dead organisms it has no such immune system and the fungi and other infections can easily make their ways through.

Infected fingernails are a problem that occurs very often in people of all ages. Therefore there are fungal nail infections, paronychia, ingrown fingernail, psoriasis. The fungal nail infection is characterized by its position at the edge at the nail, and then with time it goes all the way to the base. When evolved the nail will become tougher on touch and will also hurt it you press it. Though they are not such a serious disease and untreatable one, it can be a cause of using communal showers, wearing too tight shoes, wearing the same shoes day after day, or just spreading from one family member to another. Before taking any treatment for the fungal fingernail infection you should ask for your doctor’s advice.

The paronychia is an infection caused by bacteria that appears as a result of the nail biting, finger sucking, long use of chemicals or even fungus. It is characterized by the red color of the fingernail, that if it covers the entire nail, you should call for a medical advice. Whether caught in its early stages it can be home treated by soaking your fingernail in warm water for about fifteen minutes. And repeat this treatment up to four times a day till you see a recovery. There are some prevention measures to prevent this from appearing like, stop biting your fingernails, keep the illnesses under control, wash your hands on a regularly basis, and if using chemicals, wear rubber gloves.

Ingrown fingernail is another infection condition of your fingernails. It is characterized by the growing fingernails towards the skin. It can easily infect the skin as it cuts right through it. To prevent this from happening and to treat it, you should cut your fingernails in a straight shape; cease using too much sugar and bad food.

Psoriasis is a condition of the skin characterized by red skin with silvery scales. it’s causes are various, ranging from genetic, to immunologic and environmental factors. One should be attentive to the discoloring of the nail plate, to the pits on the nail, lines on the nails, white areas on the nail plate etc.  These factors may indicate you have this disease. there is no actual treatments for the nail, psoriasis, but you can at least diminish the signs.

There is always a treatment for any cause, but the thing is that you have to pay attention to what your nails try to indicate you.
