Information about 1900's bakelite manicure set

I am sure you know that getting nice manicures isn’t a new thing and in the past there were many people who were concerned with their hands and they had the possibility to take care of them. You might know that the French manicure has been developed in the 18th century so you might see that even in that time people were concerned by the look of their hands.

It is no surprise that in the 1900s there were already many types and kinds of manicure sets that people could choose from. In this article I am going to present some of the 1900′s Bakelite manicure set that I have found.

The first one is a set of twelve pieces that is supposed to have been made in Germany during the 1930s. The set is actually a vanity set that has been made of celluloid and Bakelite. According to the owner the set is in a great condition and the tools have a creamy white and burnt orange color and they also have an APE monogram on them.

The set consists of two mirrors, both of them being beveled edged, a hairbrush, a hand brush, a toothbrush holder, a nail buff, a sewing case, nail file, two hooks, and also two small picks. One of the mirrors, the creamy white one is market with Germany’.

I have also found another 1900′s Bakelite manicure set that is very good looking and this one also contains 12 pieces. It is said to be in a very good condition and it can be found in a travelling case that seems to be made of some kind of canvas or something of the sort. The tools look really interesting. They have an orange color and I have to admit that there are some tools that I don’t really know what they are used for.

The last set that I am going to mention is also a very beautiful one and it contains all the tools necessary for a nice manicure. It is said that the case is made of genuine leather and on the inside it has a beautiful pale green satin lining. There is a label on the inside that says ‘Warranted Real Leather’ and also ‘Queen USA’. There are six different manicure tools in the set and all of the tools are made of a silver colored metal.

The scissors have a mark that says ‘Batre Germany’. The handles of the tools are made of ‘Marbled Green Apple’ Bakelite and they also have a deep dark green accent color in them. The only problem of the set is that the file has some little spots on it and the buffer, which is the largest among the tools, also has some small spots on it. Besides the problems that I have mentioned the set is in a perfect condition.

I know that there are many other sets to be found regarding 1900′s Bakelite manicure set and if you are looking for one I am sure that you will find one that you like.
