Manicures are a very important part of our lives because in our days people are getting more and more concerned about their looks and the hands are very important because they might tell the other people a lot of things about you. This is why it is important to keep them in good shape.

In our days people are too busy and to engaged to take the time to get to know people and this is why they tend to form an opinion based on the physical look of the others. I do not think you would like to work with somebody who has dirty hands and so I do not think there is need for me to tell you anything more about this matter.

It is very important to know how to do manicures and this is why in this article I am going to tell you how to do a basic manicure. You should start by washing your hands thoroughly and then remove any trace of the previous nail polish. Remove the nail polish with the help of a cotton ball and nail polish remover. Once you are done you should soak the nails in warm water for a few minutes so that the nails and the cuticles will be soft.

Remove the hands from the water ad dry them. Then file the nails; in case they are too long to be filed you should clip them and then shape them with the help of a nail file or an emery board. This way you will also get rid of the scratchy edges. There are several nail shapes that you could choose from, including oval, round, square, squoval and pointy. According to some technicians the best shape is the square one because this way the nails will break harder, but others say that it is best to follow the shape of the cuticles.

Once you are done with the shaping, you should treat the cuticles. Apply some cuticle cream and then gently push the cuticles back with the help of a cuticle pusher or an orange stick. The cuticles should be nipped only in extreme situations. When you are done with the cuticles you should buff the nails to give them natural shine and this way the nail polish will adhere better.

In case you wish to polish the nails you should start with a layer of base coat to protect the nails and to make the polish adhere better. Once this layer has dried apply a layer of the color of your choice. In case you wish to apply several layers, you should wait for each of them to dry. To finish the manicure you should apply a layer of top coat to protect the manicure.
