Each culture has its views: for some beautiful means natural look, while for others it means lip and face tattoos, piercing as much as possible. In other words, it depends on each one’s way of understanding this concept, different perceptions regarding life and its concepts.

Lip piercing and tattoos have its roots deeply flinched in ancestors habits. They used to recur to such things from various reasons: to be distinctive in comparison with others sects, from other population, to show its bravery and its masculinity. Apart from this, it is related to fearless, as how much one can endure, how many tattoos or piercing can have. Nowadays only in Africa some people still preserves this tradition.

If nowadays the procedure is so simple and painless not the same aspects were in ancient times. Piercing involved skin perforation with a needle, while the tattoos were really extreme methods: with a knife one’s skin was notch in order for scars to remain as a model on the skin. Hunting and fighting were their life style so that body tattoos were the symbols for this.

In ancient time body tattoos were exclusively dedicated to men. From here there is a belief that women with tattoos are less feminine. It harms their sensuality. But in a modern society we live in today tattoos for women became more like a necessity. For example, lip tattoos are very commonly met to almost all women, of all ages. They are permanent or semi permanent make up that saves one’s time and concern regarding the facial look. Apart from this, tattoos are in some cases aimed to hide a scar, a body imperfection.

Regarding the piercing, in ancient time men but also women wear them. The piercing was usually for the face look: nose, eyebrows or lips. They were aimed to be the label of a specific sect or tribe. Furthermore, when it was the time to receive the piercing ancient people marked the maturity day. Imagine this as a correlation to nowadays life style: when one comes to the age of maturity, after 21 years when receives another social statue, of a major person. Or, when one is 16 and can take its driving license.

Nowadays lip piercing are considered to be more like the symbol for youth eccentricities, because when one is on the verge of maturity considered this less attractive and after all, a graceless item.

Even though nowadays such procedures for lip piercing and tattoo are less painful because of the anesthesia used, still there is pain to endure for the after that period. The risks are numerously and sincerely, my humble opinion is that they have no charm, no effect. Why would one have a tattoo or a lip piercing? The worse part is that if one is not satisfied of the result there is no turning back to the facial aspect as before.
