Lipstick Kisses

What is the first thing that pops into your mind when you hear the phrase ’lipstick kisses’? Let me guess: a bunch of lips shaped red marks. I think that this is all because the media (any kind of it). It always shows this kind of marks when it comes to lipstick kisses. We can’t say that this is something new since lipstick has been around for a long time. Nevertheless it was only in the past few decades that these marks became so ‘popular’.

There are several opinions on why do women wear lipstick. On one hand they might want to look better in order to catch men’s eyes, on the other hand they want to look pretty for themselves. Both genders find it sexy when a woman is wearing lipstick and most men find it very appealing. The truth is that it isn’t wrong to wish to look better and we can say that lipstick is just a tool to enhance one’s natural beauty (and in the same time to ‘hide’ some not so appealing characteristics).

We can say that a function of lipstick is to draw the attention to the lips. This has several benefits: creates sexual attraction in men, draws the attention from other parts of the face and head (for example there are only slight chances for someone to notice the spot you have on your forehead if you wear a lipstick that has a sharp color). In conclusion lipstick might make us look better.

Although most of the men like to see women wearing lipstick, when it comes to kissing most of them don’t like to get lipstick on their lips. This problem can be solved by using kiss-proof lipstick. Others think otherwise: if someone sees a man who has lipstick smudges on his lips or cheeks thinks that he has someone who loves him. This may send two kinds of messages to those around him: the men will envy him and the women will find out that he isn’t available. This may have two effects: they will stay away from him or they will try to get him for themselves.

In the case of women things are a little bit different: they are ashamed if somebody sees them having smudged lipstick all over their face. I never could really understand this since there is nothing to be ashamed of if you kiss somebody. Still the reality is that while men are proud of it, women tend to hide it, unless they have some sort of intentions.

Lipstick kisses have always been a great modality to ruin relationships. What girl would like to be with a guy that has another girl’s lipstick on him? Not many would forgive such a thing. What we can learn from this article is to be careful with lipstick kisses, how we ‘use’ them or with what intentions do the others use them. Don’t forget that although lipstick looks harmless, it may become a powerful weapon on someone else’s lips.
