Lipstick Mark

The lipstick mark is a very well known mark in the shape of a woman’s mouth. It is used quite often in movies, cartoons or on printed things, because it is easy to recognize and every person associates it with a kiss from a woman.



These marks can appear in everyday life very easily. Most of the women wear some kind of lipstick and if the lipstick’s color isn’t clear that it is very possible that it will leave a mark on whatever touches the woman’s lips, like glasses, cups, mugs or any other thing that she drink of. Cigars are another category that is very easy to mark when wearing lipstick. These marks can be easily washed off (except for cigars).



When the lipstick stains a piece of clothing, it is a whole another story, because it is a lot harder to remove lipsticks stains from the clothing. Of course there are some methods that are proven to remove such stains, or the clothing can be taken to a professional cleaner.

For a very long period of time lipstick mark on the collar of a man’s shirt meant that he has been very close to a woman. This fact was important especially in the past years when the lipsticks were more likely to leave a mark because of their composition. In those days if the wife found a lipstick stain on the collar of her husband’s collar that didn’t come from her, he was sure to be exiled to the couch, in the best situation.

In worse cases he had to find some other place to live, since his wife didn’t let him in the house anymore. In that period it was a well-known tactic to stain someone’s shirt on purpose, even if nothing bad has happened (of course who would believe that?) to ruin his marriage. Some women use this method even in our days.

In movies, but in real life as well suck lipstick marks can cause big problems. Naturally in most of the films the problems are eventually solved, because the wife finds out that it was the grandmother of his husband that by accident smudged the shirt with her lipstick. In real life things are a bit more complicated simply because most of the man is such situations aren’t innocent. The lipstick on the collar can’t be an indicator in our days because most of the lipsticks don’t stain so easily anymore, but if you ever find such a stain, be sure to ask your husband or boyfriend about it.



The marks can be left on different things with purpose as well, to send a certain message, for example if a letter is ‘sealed’ with a kiss. There are some men that are happy if a woman leaves a lipstick mark on their cheek because that shows that he is loved by someone. This works on the other way around too, meaning that some women are willing to leave a mark to show the other women that his guy is already taken.
