Longest Fingernails Record

Fingernails have been a great responsibility in one’s life ever since the early ages. If people back then did not know much about the fingernails and what they are made from, they surely did know of the fact that they can have a very long length.


However, they did not even bother to take into account the things one fingernail may suffer from or even take proper care of them and be careful not to ruin them. This happened a long time ago, when the first men ever started growing long fingernails. Anyhow, if today, anyone, starts growing long fingernails one will surely need to be attentive with the diet one eats, with the every daily stuff one does and as well with every little thing that the fingernail comes into contact with. Fingernail usual growth rate is at a peace of 3 mm per months, which means that having the fingernail completely torn off, will signify, that one has to wait about six months, the most, to have it fully grown.

The first longest fingernails record began in 1955 and it was held by a Chinese priest who started growing long fingernails in absence of anything else to do. He grew the fingernails all the way up to 22 ¾ inches long. Even though he entered the first in the Guinness Book he wanted to remain anonymous by name, and till this day, none knows his name. he was then in 1972 surpassed by his Indian fellowship, known as Romesh Sharma.

After just ten years of growth his fingernails surpassed a total length of 52.5 inches. That was believed to be a very good record at that time. In 1975 he was surpassed by the Murari Mohan Aditya from alcutta, that registered a total fingernail length of 55.5 inches long. As he was put to confront ewith th loss of his fingernail length record, he then registered the longest fingernails record for a single fingernail – 24.5 inches, in 1977 – Romesh Sharma.

Until 1983, Murari Mohan Aditya continued to set the record for the longest fingernails length, arriving of up to 108.5 inches long. Anyhow, in 1983, another man, Schridhar Chillal, as well from India, set another record of 116.5 inches of nails on the left hand. He continued with setting this record until July 1998 when he appeared on Guinness World records: Primetime. He then had a total legth of the fingernails of 242.25 inches on his left hand.

If since then the world’s longest fingernails record, was held just by men, in 1999 a woman, named Lee Redmond, set the record for the longest fingernails all over theUnited States and as far as the women concern, having as much as 17.25 inch nails long, after twenty entire years of continuous growth. She continued growing them until 2009, when her fingernails length got all the way up to 28 feet and 7.8 inches long. She now, no longer has this fingernails length as they were torn apart in a car accident that she suffered in the early 2009, when she was ejected from the car. As a result to this she lost her 28 feet long fingernails. Despite of this she was happy to be alive and to be able to play with her grandchildren again and to help her husband more.

Maintaining long fingernails is a very good looking thing as long as they are in a healthy condition and as far as they will be properly taken care of. However, it is not such an easy thing to do, as fingernails require a lot of healthy food and as well a balanced diet. They need vitamins, oils, nutritional factors and some other such essential elements.
