Men Wearing Red Lipstick
I think it is much debated whether men should wear lipstick or not. Some say that it is unnatural and that lipstick was meant to be worn only by women. I don’t think it is fair to prohibit or to judge men wearing red lipstick because as I have already written, at some point women were forbidden as well and the mentality has changed. Maybe that in time men wearing red lipstick will be just as accepted as women, but it seems like we will have to wait for that.
I believe that men need some kind or care for their lips as well, and so there is no problem in them using lip balm or similar products, but wearing lipstick has a whole another purpose. Many people associate men wearing red lipstick with them being homosexual or gay, but I know that there are some that simply like the feeling of lipstick on their lips. Actually, most gay people don’t like lipstick. The majority of those who like it are transsexuals and this is a way through which they are trying to show their feminine side.
The truth is that lipstick really was invented for women since the painting of the lips is related to their sexuality but at this point I see no reason for which men shouldn’t be wearing lipstick. I agree that it is unusual but not unheard of and I think that those men who wish to do this and are afraid of what people might think should forget about their fears and they should to what makes them happy and what makes them fulfilled and free. If they don’t do so they will feel frustrated and this frustration might lead to bigger problems than some gossip.
From my point of view everything has two sides and people should try to understand those that see things in another way than they do because this means widening our horizons.11
