Our Lips Are Sealed

Who hasn’t heard or used at least one time this expression? We all did, at least when we were kids. Every time a person told you a secret he made you swear you’ll never tell what he was going to say to you. That was happening when we were kids, but age doesn’t stop us from doing the same thing. It doesn’t matter how old are you, age isn’t as important as one may think when we are speaking about secrets. We all have secrets, some of us have big ones and others have insignificant secrets. That depends of the person. Now we don’t use the expression “our lips are sealed” we just swear we’ll never say a thing, but when we were kids this expression was quite common.

I have two little cousins and the expression” our lips are sealed” is quite common among them. I can hear them every time when they have a secret and they want to tell it to someone else they make them say: “my lips are sealed”. Otherwise they won’t say a thing. We all were the same when we were kids. We used to do different jokes and we used to hide them from our parents, but in the end they used to find out what were we doing, without too much effort.

The new generation is more advanced than we probably were and they are more receptive. If we compare the new generation with how we were you’ll be surprised in finding out how big are the differences. They don’t do simple things, their jokes are more complex ones and so must be the secret. I think they use more often then us this expression because even their secrets are more important than ours used to be. If you are one of those who think that this expression is just for kids, you’re wrong. There are adults who still use it. After all it is used with the same purpose: to guarantee to the secret’s owner that you will not tell a thing from what he is going to tell you.

“Our lips are sealed” is a film which presents the exact topic as the one presented in this article. This movie presents two sisters, played by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, who have problems because they’ve witnessed a local robbery. The sisters are placed in the FBI’s witness protection program, but everywhere they are sent, they have problems because they can’t keep the secret of their identity. The police changes their location very time they have problems because the leader’s gang will do anything in order to get the girls.

Even FBI gets tired of moving them for the simple reason they can’t keep their mouth shut. Finally the girls are sent to live in Australia but the leader’s band finds out where they were sent and goes after them. They have to face different dangers but in the end the criminal is caught by an undercover police and the girls are able to return home to the United States with half the reward for capturing the bad guys.
