Punk Hairstyles

I am sure that you have heard about punk since it was very popular in the past and it still has adepts. What you should know about it is that it is a subgenere of rock music and it developed between 1974 and 1976 in the US, UK and Australia. It has its roots in garage rock and the fans favor DIY methods, this is why the punk bands made themselves know through more informal channels. The most well known bands were the Ramones and the Sex Pistols. I think that when you think about these bands and everything that they represented you might get some ideas about punk hairstyles.

These hairstyles are known for their out of the ordinary look and the strong and clear message they send. Most of the times bright and vivid colors are used and the haircuts are created to get the attention of those around the person in question. There are some people that do not recognize the punk hairstyles and they think that everything that is revolting and outrageous is punk hairstyle, but in fact there are several similar styles, like indie or Emo that aren’t really punk.

There are many punk hairstyles and the difficult thing about them is that they can’t really be categorized because they vary from person to person, being influenced by the personality of the person. Still I will try to present the most popular punk hairstyles. The first one might be the pop punk hairstyle. This hairstyle is only for girls, especially for those who have long hair. The most easily recognizable characteristic that the hairstyle has is that the hair is partially highlighted and then arranged in a messy way. A celebrity that has such a hairstyle is Avril Lavigne.

The skate punk hairstyle could have been seen worn by Kelly Osborne. The hairstyle features the hair cut to have different lengths in different parts and then styled to have spikes with hair gel. In this case also bright colors and neon colors are used especially on the end of the hair to emphasize fluous hair. The style actually resembles the Emo hairstyles.

The hairstyle that is said to be the original punk hairstyle is the so called Mohawk. I think that this is the most well known of the punk hairstyles. All it takes is to use some hair gel to create the spikes on the top of the head. The colors used in this case are violet and crimson colors and the style was very popular especially during the 1980’s.

The last hairstyle that I am going to write about is the demise or horror punk hairstyle. The look of this hairstyle resembles the look of gothic hairstyles and the colors used are black or blue black. It is created like the Mohawk, but at the end it’s finished like a thorn punk hairstyle.
