Shag Hairstyles
I suppose you might have heard about shag hairstyles before since they are gaining more and more popularity in our days. These hairstyles are easy to maintain and they are right for various hair lengths. I think that the best way to describe these hairstyles is to say that they are messy on purpose. It doesn’t take much time to style these hairstyles and still they look their best. The common feature of shag hairstyles are the layers that they all have, but their length and the way they are arranged depends on the length of the hair.
As you might imagine there are three types of shag hairstyles. The first one is the short shag. In this case the hairstyle features several layers that most of the time frame the face. In the back there are fewer layers to give a uniform appearance without giving up the volume.
The number of layers in the case of medium shags depends on the person: it can have either numerous layers or few layers. If the option of many layers is chosen then it will give volume to the hairstyle and it will lighten it. If you choose to have fewer layers then you will get a sleeker look. Long shags most of the time feature few layers because long hair has the tendency to look unkept and ragged if too many layers are added. The common characteristic of the shag hairstyles is that the outermost layer is the longest and so it provides a smooth finish and so creating a natural look. Contrary to the common belief, shag hairstyles can be created with wavy and curly hair as well but you should know that curly shags are difficult to maintain and they tend to get tangled.
If you would like to add something to your hairstyle that will make it unique you might try adding some highlights. Naturally there is no hairstyle that can’t be spiced up with a few strands that have another color then the rest of your hair. If you don’t want to color your hair or if you would like to go a little further, you might want to use some accessories that will look great with a casual suit or for a special event. When you are thinking about shag hairstyles the first thing that you have to make up your mind about is the length. The downside of short shags is that it takes a long time for the hair to grow back and that can be really annoying if you realize that you don’t like the style. If you opt for longer hairstyles then the advantage is that you can cut the hair anytime. The next thing you should know is that the long shag hairstyles are great to balance round face shapes while the tapered bangs and fringes might balance angular facial features. I hope that I made the idea of having a shag hairstyle appealing to you and you will try it at some point.
