Things to know about lipstick stain removal

I am sure that you know that lipstick is a very important part of our lives and while most people think that it is part only of the life of women, you should know that it is also part of the life of men because they get in connection with it on a daily basis.

Since it is so wide spread in the world (almost every woman uses it) it is no wonder that people stain their clothes or the clothes of others and in such cases it might be very useful to know some things about lipstick stain removal.

There are some ironic people who say that the best way to treat a stain is to prevent it. This might be true, but once you are faced with the situation that you have to get rid of the stain it is better to know some things. The first and the most important thing to know is that under no circumstances should you rub the stain.

I know that this might be the first reaction that we have, but this way you might spread and set the stain and I don’t think you want to do that. It is a lot better to prewash the clothing and treat the stain as soon as possible.

You should also check the label of the clothing because if it is made of a special fabric you might need to take it to a professional cleaner.

You should also know that about 60% of lipstick is made of wax and oils and so you should use some substances that dissolve grease. Such a solution might be to use alcohol. You might not know this, but alcohol is used by the manufacturers as well to dissolve the waxes and oils used in lipstick. You should take a piece of clean and preferably white cloth and moist it with alcohol. Then you should dab the stain with the cloth and the stain should disappear. Once it does you should wash the clothing in plain cold water.

Another solution is to use a substance that has been created to fight grease: dishwashing detergent. To use it you should put some on a piece of clean cloth and you should start working on the stain from the edges inwards. When all the stain is gone you should wash the clothing in plain water.

Another solution that you might have not thought of is using ammonia. This substance is also used for cleaning purposes and it can be found at almost any household. If you don’t have any you can buy it at the nearest grocery store. You should moist a piece of cloth with ammonia and start working on the stain. When it has disappeared you should wash the clothing in plain water but it might be a good idea to put some dishwashing detergent in the water.

I hope that now you know a lot more things about lipstick stain removal and that you will manage to get rid of the stain.
