Things to know regarding French manicure tape

Most people like to have French manicures, but they think that the only way to achieve a professional looking manicure is to go to a nail salon. I have to say this isn’t necessarily true because in case you have a little time and patience then you might get very good results at home as well.

You might also need some experience, but with time you will gain that as well. There aren’t many special things you need to get the style, just the usual manicure tools, nail polish and the only thing that might be considered as an extra is the French manicure tape.

You can buy these tapes at almost any grocery store, beauty store or drugstore that you can find and they are very easy to use. In case you buy a French manicure set most probably you will get some tapes with the set but if you don’t, you can buy them separately as well and they are quite cheap. Most of the times you can buy 20 or 40 tapes at once but there are some kits that have up to 100 tapes.

This means that you will be able to do 10 manicures with one set of tapes. If you come tot hink of it, it is quite cheap if you compare the price of the manicure that you do at home to the price you have to pay at a salon.

It is very easy to use the tapes. You should start by doing your basic manicure: clipping, shaping and treating the cuticles. Nothing special until now.

Then you should apply a layer of base coat to protect the nails and to make the nail polish adhere better. Then take the French manicure tape and stick one on each nail. You should make sure that you stick them well so that o nail polish will be able to get under them to ruin your manicure. Once all the tapes are on the nails you should polish the tips white. You should wait a bit before you remove the yaps.

There are two risks of not choosing the right moment to remove them. It might happen that the polish gets smeared when you remove the tapes and it also might happen that you wait too much and the tape rips off the nail polish. These things happen quite rare, so you shouldn’t panic about them. After you remove the tapes you should wait for the white polish to dry completely and then polish the entire nail with the other color. The traditional colors include pink, nude and beige. When the last layer has dried as well you should also apply a layer of top coat to protect the manicure you worked so hard with.

I hope that you will manage to create the prefect manicure at home and maybe after a while you won’t even need to use French manicure tape. In case you have anything to add, feel free to leave a comment.
