“I’m going out to let my real talent show, not just stand there and dance around. Personally, I’d never lip synch. It’s just not me.” Seems familiar? Well, it’s an interview offered by Ashlee Simpson to Lucky Magazine. Should we even trust her? Well, according to her performance at the Saturday Night live, whose host is Jude Law, Ashlee Simpson had her fist public Milli Vanili situation. How is this even possible, if this show presents only live performances; everyone can deduct this even from the show’s name.

Ashlee Simpson is known by all her fans as a talented singer who doesn’t do lip sing. But her moment from Saturday Night Live doesn’t show this, on the contrary, presents an Ashlee Simpson who is willing to do this in order to look good. Nowadays if you are a young singer and you don’t lip synch, you can’t be considered a “true performer”. Maybe, this happens because the singer can’t sustain an entirely live moment. But how it was even possible, to lip sing and how were people able to discover this?

During Saturday Night live show, Ashlee Simpson had two moments; the first song she played was “Pieces of me” and the second one should have been “Autobiography”, but unfortunately for her, things weren’t as she had expected. Instead of “Autobiography”, it had started again her first song, “Pieces of me”. Everyone could hear the song but she wasn’t singing. Ashlee had started gyrating and dancing an Irish jig on stage, while the band was trying to save the moment. If this isn’t a lip singing, then what could be?

At the end of the show, the singer appeared and tried to offer an explanation to her fans. She said it was the band’s blame for playing the wrong song. That’s how she has trying to save the situation. But how could be the band’s blame, because anyone could hear her voice and she wasn’t singing. The singer and her manager tried to explain the situation by saying that Ashlee was singing all day during the sound check and then complained to her voice coach that her throat hurt, that’s why they’ve took the decision of playing with a band singing pre-recorded track. This was their only solution in order to make Ashlee’s performing possible. If it is true or not, nobody can know for sure; what it is true is that she was lip singing and she said that she will never do this. So, the next time we want to make fun of our singers, at least about them we know for sure they do lip singing, we should see the foreign singers who say they don’t do this, but as we all have seen Ashlee Simpson’s case, they do.
