The manicure is a cosmetic beauty treatment for both hands and fingernails. The manicure treatment can either treat the hands, the fingernails or both. The word manicure is derived from the Latin word “manus” that means hands and “cura” that means care. The manicure can either be performed at home, in a spa or a nail salon by a nail technician. A common manicure for both hands and nails can be the filing, shaping of the nails and then the application of the polish, a lacquer used to protect the nails.

The main purpose of the manicure is to improve the look of one‘s fingernails and the look and feel of one’s hands. Another purpose is to clean, strengthen, shape, make attractive or even dress the nails. The manicure improves the health and texture of one’s hands and fingernails. It helps preventing nail damages like fragile tips, cuts or splits. There are Different Types of Manicures available but what distinguish a type of manicure from another are the application of different oils, creams and nail polishes and the different shapes of nails. A nail technician usually puts the clients’ hands in warm water, push back cuticles, trim and fill the nails and polish the client nails. But there are also other techniques to have a wonderful manicure.

It involves the application of clear or nail-colored nail polish on the body of the nail and white nail polish on the tips of the nails. Paraffin manicure is a type of manicure that involves dipping the hands into wax or in which warm wax is rubbed into one’s nails. Hot Stone manicure is actually a procedure in which hands are being massaged by using hot stone therapy. Luxury manicure includes the use of paraffin wax for softening and warming the hands and hydrating the nails. Spa manicure is a more complex manicure because contains few additional steps than the normal manicure, like hydrating mask or an aromatic salt rub.

Talking about Different Types of Manicure one can also include the large pallet of nail polishes from red, to black or even to electric colors. There is also nail painting which can include all sorts of designs and applications being an art of its own.
