What Is The Record For The World's Longest Fingernails

Fingernails are a part of you. In today’s fashion style you mostly are what you look like, therefore one should pay much attention to everything, starting from the way you wear your hair, your clothes to the tip of your toes, including your fingernails.



Some discovered in fingernails a provocative task therefore, wanted to see how long the fingernails could grow if they are left without being cut at all. If you have put yourself the question what is the record of the world’s longest fingernails, you should know that a lot of people tried to beat this record, some of them even men. It is highly common knowledge that men fingernails grow faster than women and are not subdued to external factors like doing a lot of house work, nail polish.

Anyhow, the first record of the longest fingernails was held by a Chinese priest, in 1955 that had his nails of twenty two and three quarters inches long. The next in line, surpassing this record was another male, from India, Romesh Sharma, that had a total length of the nails from his left hand of fifty two point five inches long. After being surpassed by another Indian male, he set another record in 1977, for the longest single fingernail of twenty-four and five inches long.  In 1983, he was again surpassed by Murari Mohan Aditya that had the longest fingernail of twenty-seven and five inches long.



So, at the beginnings of the world’s Guinness record book, the records were held by male, but in 1999, Lee Redmound, a female, from United States, set the record for the longest fingernails for a female. After growing her fingernails for twenty years, she has seventeen point twenty five inch nails.

She continued leaving her nails grow until recently, in 2009, when she suffered a car accident and her nails were torn apart. Then they were of twenty-four feet and eight inches long. She kept her nails so long with the help of healthy food and also olive oil.



But, as for what is the record of the world’s longest fingernails, the official Guinness world record is held by Melvin Booth, who has a total length of his fingernails of twenty-nine feet and eight inches long.  Whether the long fingernails kept Mr. Melvin Booth in his house, Mrs. Lee Redmond was not held in the house, trapped as a cause of her long fingernails. Though not as long as Melvin’s fingernails, the fingernails of Mrs. Redmond were the longest in the world regarding the female record. No one has been able to beat her record yet.

Nor is she extremely upset because of the accident she had. Moreover, she said she felt lighter and she could do things more easily. Nevertheless, it was an interesting experience that requests a lot of determination to a human being to be able to grow such long fingernails.
