Lipstick on women has a special power, ever since we were little most of us were struck by mother's purse from there taking a rough, probably red, asking at the same time who invented lipstick. Even before learning what is and what they do make up, powder, perfumes and creams I tried and I saw what may be a lipstick. And how could it be otherwise given the fact that lipstick is the most prominent cosmetic on the face of a woman? This little wonder of cosmetics has come to define stars like Marilyn Monroe, Scarlett Johansson, Gwen Stefani or Christina Aguilera. We can not imagine us on any of them without some red lips that seem sometimes to be a source of sex appeal to their site.

But who invented lipstick? Well you must know that lipstick is not an invention of modernity. Since Antiquity old women were looking for ways in which to color the lips to be more attractive. Lipstick history starts about 4,500 years ago in Babylon. By the 60s BC Historical documents indicate an on Cleopatra as one of the first famous woman whose lips were artificially colored.

Women in Egypt used a henna dye made from plant type that again for a while, and used a mixture of iodine and bromine that have negative effects on health but is also known as the "kiss of death." Several centuries later, lipstick red combined with a very white skin became a trend of English royal court. This fashion is dictated by Queen Elizabeth I, who used a lipstick made from beeswax and herbs. But in 1770 the British Parliament issued a law that women who wore lipstick were liable to trial for witchcraft. Queen Victoria's attitude (who believe that makeup is indecent, even vulgar) with Legislation in 1800 made lipstick be associated with prostitution.

The situation changed drastically in the twentieth century when lipstick, and especially red lipstick, becomes a symbol of female power is held by 1920 especially for suffragettes. Nowadays lipstick has become an attribute of femininity, one way we can express not only personality but also the mood. Nowadays women accessorize their outfit with perfect manicure and a flawless red lipstick on their lips. Red lipstick, in combination with the eternal little black dress is the most common symbol for elegance, womanhood, and mystery. All you need to make the perfect mixture, is a little attitude!

There is one thing to bear in mind when you choose a lipstick, namely what ingredients it contains. Several years ago it was discovered that many lipsticks contain lead, a substance that harms health. Studies done in the Campaign for Healthy Cosmetics showed that many lipsticks, including the number and make known, contain lead. How the regulations in this field are still at the beginning, companies may not be prevented from producing such cosmetic as long as the label specifies the ingredients used. Meanwhile some companies have eliminated lead in lipsticks composition. However we advise that you check this for every lipstick that you buy.
